Hybrid MPVs With a Sunroof in India (2026)

Hybrid MPVs With a Sunroof in India (2026)

Every hybrid MPV with a sunroof keeps it for upper trims, so the sunroof variant's price is what matters, not the model's starting price. The Invicto opens at Rs 25.02 lakh but the roof only comes on the Rs 28.80 lakh Alpha Plus 7S, and all three variants share the same 139 kW hybrid system at 22.16 km/l, so dropping a trim costs nothing in efficiency. On the Hycross the sunroof starts at the VX(O) while Toyota Safety Sense is a ZX(O) item, so a sunroof variant is not automatically an ADAS variant.

Four hybrid MPVs on sale in India offer a sunroof, and only one of them costs under Rs 30 lakh: the Maruti Suzuki Invicto, whose panoramic sunroof is fitted to the Alpha Plus 7S at Rs 28.80 lakh ex-showroom. The Toyota Innova Hycross offers one on three of its seven grades, the VX(O), ZX and ZX(O). Above those sit the Toyota Vellfire and the Lexus LM 350h, both with twin glass panels over the rear lounge seats and both well into crore territory.

The pattern is consistent and worth knowing before you shortlist: every hybrid MPV here keeps its sunroof for upper trims only. The sunroof variant's price is the number that matters, not the model's starting price. The Invicto, for instance, opens at Rs 25.02 lakh, but the sunroof costs you the top variant.

Key takeaways

  • Only four hybrid MPVs in India offer a sunroof or glass roof, and all four are strong hybrids.
  • The Invicto Alpha Plus 7S is the only one under Rs 30 lakh, at Rs 28.80 lakh ex-showroom.
  • The Innova Hycross has the widest choice, with a panoramic sunroof on the VX(O), ZX and ZX(O), and the VX(O) can be had as a seven or eight seater.
  • No smart hybrid MPV offers a sunroof. The Maruti Ertiga and XL6 have none on any variant.
  • Toyota and Lexus do not publish ex-showroom price lists on their Indian websites, so the price column below is filled only where the manufacturer publishes it.

What actually counts as a sunroof here

The four roofs are not the same thing, and the difference decides who in the car benefits.

  • A panoramic sunroof, on the Invicto and the Hycross, is one long glass panel reaching back over the second row, with a section that opens. Everyone forward of the third row sees sky.
  • A dual sunroof, on the Vellfire, is two panels that open independently, so each second-row passenger controls their own side.
  • Glass roof windows, on the Lexus LM 350h, sit above the rear lounge seats with their own sunshade. They are about the rear cabin, not the driver.

One thing to settle on the test drive: whether the panel opens or is fixed glass, and how well the sunshade blocks heat. A large glass roof in an Indian summer puts a real load on the air conditioning, and sunshade quality varies more than the brochures suggest.

1. Maruti Suzuki Invicto

The only hybrid MPV with a sunroof that a mainstream buyer is realistically cross-shopping, and the cheapest route to this combination by a wide margin.

Sunroof variant: Alpha Plus 7S, Rs 28.80 lakh. It is the top of a three-variant range that starts at Rs 25.02 lakh with the Zeta Plus 7S and Zeta Plus 8S, neither of which gets the roof.

Hybrid system: A 1,987 cc petrol engine with Maruti's strong hybrid setup and an e-CVT, driving the front wheels. Total system output is 139 kW, which Maruti rates at 188.9 PS, with 206 Nm.

Mileage: 22.16 km/l claimed.

Seating: Seven seats, with second-row captain seats that slide and recline and walk-in access to the third row. The sunroof sits directly over those captain seats, which is the point of fitting it to the seven seater.

Comfort: Front ventilated seats, 8-way powered driver seat with memory, ambient lighting, 10.1-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control with rear vents.

Safety: Six airbags, ESP with hill hold, 360 View Camera, rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring, ISOFIX mounts. It holds a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, 30.43 of 32 for adults and 45.00 of 49 for children.

2. Toyota Innova Hycross

The most choice, and the only one here that offers the sunroof with an eight-seat layout.

Sunroof variants: VX(O), ZX and ZX(O). Toyota's brochure marks the panoramic sunroof as absent on the G-SLF, GX, GX(O) and VX grades and present on the three above them. The VX(O) is offered with seven or eight seats; the ZX and ZX(O) are seven seaters with second-row captain seats.

Hybrid system: The same 1,987 cc displacement, running Toyota's fifth-generation hybrid system through an e-Drive transmission. Toyota rates the hybrid at 139 kW, or 183.7 HP in its own brochure, against 126 kW for the petrol-only grades.

Mileage: 22.16 km/l claimed, the same figure Maruti quotes for the Invicto, which shares this powertrain.

Comfort: The sunroof comes with mood lighting and roof-mounted AC vents. All three sunroof grades get a panoramic view monitor and wireless Apple CarPlay. The ZX and ZX(O) add powered ottoman second-row seats, ventilated front seats, a rear sunshade, a nine-speaker JBL system and an 8-way powered driver seat with memory.

Safety: Six SRS airbags, vehicle stability control with hill start assist, electronic parking brake with auto hold, SOS call. Toyota Safety Sense, with adaptive cruise control, lane trace assist, blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert and a pre-collision system, is a ZX(O) item. It holds a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, 30.47 of 32 and 45.00 of 49.

Worth knowing: Toyota does not publish Hycross prices on its website. It quotes through a dealer, so ask for the VX(O) figure specifically if the sunroof is what you are after.

3. Toyota Vellfire

A different category of vehicle, and the only one here whose roof is built around the second-row passenger rather than the cabin as a whole.

Sunroof variant: VIP Executive Lounge.

Roof: An independently operable dual sunroof. The left and right panels work separately, so each second-row occupant controls their own.

Hybrid system: A 2.5-litre petrol engine with the Toyota Hybrid System and a CVT.

Cabin: Second-row executive lounge seats with ottoman and massage, power roll-down rear sunblinds, a 35.5 cm rear entertainment screen, 15-speaker JBL audio and a head-up display.

Safety: Six airbags, pre-collision system, adaptive cruise control, lane trace assist, blind spot monitor, adaptive high-beam LED headlamps, panoramic view monitor, vehicle stability control.

4. Lexus LM 350h

The roof here is explicitly a rear-passenger feature, which tells you who the car is designed around.

Variants with glass roof: 7-Seater VIP and 4-Seater Ultra Luxury.

Roof: Twin glass roof windows above the rear seats, with a dedicated rear-seat sunshade.

Hybrid system: A 2.5-litre four-cylinder hybrid with 182 kW, or 247 PS, of total system power, a CVT and E-Four all-wheel drive.

Cabin: Mark Levinson 3D surround sound, 21 speakers in the VIP and 23 in the Ultra Luxury. The Ultra Luxury adds twin powered rear seats with ottomans and a 48-inch rear display. The VIP gets a head-up display.

Safety: Lexus Safety System+ 3 on both, with a pre-collision system, dynamic radar cruise control, lane tracing assist and an adaptive high-beam system.

How to choose

If the sunroof is genuinely a must-have, the Invicto Alpha Plus 7S is the only answer under Rs 30 lakh, and it puts the glass where it does the most good, over second-row captain seats. If you want the same powertrain with more trim choice, or an eight-seat layout with a roof, the Hycross VX(O) is the one to price.

If the sunroof is a nice-to-have, the maths changes completely. Dropping to a Zeta Plus Invicto saves close to Rs 4 lakh and loses nothing in efficiency, since all three variants run the identical hybrid system at 22.16 km/l. That is the single best piece of advice in this article.

One more thing to check before you sign: driver assistance and the sunroof do not always land on the same trim. On the Hycross, Toyota Safety Sense is a ZX(O) feature while the sunroof starts two grades lower, so a sunroof variant is not automatically an ADAS variant.

Frequently asked questions

Which is the most affordable hybrid MPV with a sunroof in India?

The Maruti Suzuki Invicto Alpha Plus 7S, at Rs 28.80 lakh ex-showroom. It is the only hybrid MPV with a sunroof priced under Rs 30 lakh. For other options at this price, see our list of 7-seater hybrid MUVs under 30 lakh.

Which Invicto variant has the sunroof?

Only the Alpha Plus 7S. The Zeta Plus 7S and Zeta Plus 8S do not get it. The Alpha Plus also adds front ventilated seats, a 360 View Camera and an 8-way powered driver seat with memory.

Do the Maruti Ertiga and XL6 have a sunroof?

No. Both use a smart hybrid system rather than a strong hybrid, and neither offers a sunroof on any variant. Our guide to the best mild hybrid MPVs covers them properly.

Does the Innova Hycross VX get a sunroof?

No. The panoramic sunroof starts at the VX(O) and continues on the ZX and ZX(O). The plain VX hybrid does without it.

Can these MPVs run on electric power alone?

Yes. All four are strong hybrids, which means they can move on electric power at low speeds before the petrol engine joins in. Our explainer on hybrid MPVs with an EV-only mode covers how far that goes in practice.

Which hybrid MPV with a sunroof is the most fuel efficient?

The Invicto and the Hycross tie at a claimed 22.16 km/l, because they use the same hybrid system. For the full ranking, see the most fuel-efficient hybrid MPVs in India.
