Most Powerful Hybrid MPVs in India (2026)

Most Powerful Hybrid MPVs in India (2026)

Four of the six are two pairs of mechanical twins, so the tie-breakers matter more than the ranking. The XL6 and Ertiga make identical power and identical torque, 139 Nm at 4,300 rpm; comparisons that credit the XL6 with more torque are wrong. They separate on seats, price and mileage, and on the automatic the Ertiga is marginally ahead at 20.30 km/l against 20.27. More power also does not cost fuel here: the 139 kW Invicto claims 22.16 km/l against the 75.8 kW XL6's 20.90.

The most powerful hybrid MPV in India is the Lexus LM 350h, with 182 kW, or 247 PS, of total system output and electric all-wheel drive. For anyone shopping below Rs 35 lakh, it's a tie: the Maruti Suzuki Invicto and the Toyota Innova Hycross both make 139 kW from the same strong hybrid powertrain, and the Invicto is the cheaper route to it, from Rs 25.02 lakh. Under Rs 15 lakh, the Maruti Suzuki XL6 and Ertiga share one engine at 75.8 kW, or 103.06 PS.

A seven-seater's power figure only matters loaded. Empty, every car here is adequate. With seven people and luggage on a ghat road, the gap between 75.8 kW and 139 kW is the difference between planning an overtake and simply making one.

Key takeaways

  • Lexus LM 350h, 182 kW: the most powerful hybrid MPV sold here, and the only one with all-wheel drive.
  • Invicto and Innova Hycross both make 139 kW. They share a powertrain, so pick on price, seats and equipment rather than performance.
  • The XL6 and Ertiga are identical on output and torque, 75.8 kW and 139 Nm. Many comparisons claim the XL6 has more torque; it does not.
  • The Ertiga is the cheapest seven-seat hybrid MPV in India, from Rs 8,90,000.
  • More power does not mean worse fuel economy here. The 139 kW Invicto claims 22.16 km/l, better than the 75.8 kW XL6 at 20.90 km/l.

The 139 kW tie, and the 75.8 kW tie

Four of the six MPVs here are two pairs of mechanical twins, which makes the ranking less useful than it looks and the tie-breakers more interesting.

Invicto and Innova Hycross both run the 1,987 cc TNGA fifth-generation strong hybrid at 139 kW through an electrically controlled transmission, and both claim 22.16 km/l. Maruti calls that 188.9 PS and Toyota calls it 183.7 HP; the units differ, the engine does not. Toyota publishes 191 Nm of engine torque and 206 Nm from the motor, and Maruti quotes 206 Nm. The Invicto comes only as a strong hybrid, so every variant has the full output; on the Hycross the hybrid starts at the VX grade and the petrol grades below it make 126 kW.

XL6 and Ertiga both run the 1,462 cc K15C smart hybrid at 75.8 kW, or 103.06 PS, with 139 Nm at 4,300 rpm. They are identical on both counts. What separates them:

  • Seats. The XL6 is a six-seater with captain seats on every variant; the Ertiga seats seven.
  • Mileage. The XL6 claims 20.90 km/l on the manual against the Ertiga's 20.51 km/l, but on the automatic the Ertiga is marginally ahead, 20.30 km/l against 20.27 km/l. On CNG the XL6 claims 26.23 km/kg and the Ertiga 26.11 km/kg.
  • Price. The Ertiga starts at Rs 8,90,000 against Rs 11.62 lakh for the XL6.

The ones worth a closer look

Maruti Suzuki Invicto, 139 kW

The most powerful Maruti sold in India, and the cheapest way to 139 kW in an MPV.

Powertrain: A 1,987 cc petrol engine with a strong hybrid system and an e-CVT. Maruti rates total system output at 139 kW, or 188.9 PS, with 206 Nm.

Variants and prices: Zeta Plus 7S and Zeta Plus 8S from Rs 25.02 lakh, Alpha Plus 7S at Rs 28.80 lakh. Every variant gets the full output.

Mileage: 22.16 km/l claimed.

On the move: EV mode for silent low-speed running, Eco, Normal and Power drive modes, paddle shifters and cruise control. Power mode and the paddles are what you reach for on a loaded overtake.

Safety: Six airbags, ESP with hill hold, electronic parking brake with auto hold, and a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating at 30.43 of 32 for adults and 45.00 of 49 for children.

Toyota Innova Hycross, 139 kW

The same output, and the only one of the pair offered with eight seats on the hybrid.

Powertrain: The 1,987 cc TNGA hybrid with a 168-cell nickel metal hydride battery, through an e-Drive transmission with sequential shift. Toyota publishes 191 Nm of engine torque and 206 Nm from the motor.

Hybrid grades: VX, VX(O), ZX and ZX(O). The ZX and ZX(O) are seven-seat only; the VX and VX(O) offer seven or eight.

Mileage: 22.16 km/l claimed.

Safety: Six airbags, panoramic view monitor, electronic parking brake, Toyota Safety Sense on the ZX(O), and a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating at 30.47 of 32 and 45.00 of 49.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, 75.8 kW

The cheapest seven-seat hybrid in India, and the value answer in this segment.

Powertrain: The 1,462 cc K15C smart hybrid, 75.8 kW or 103.06 PS and 139 Nm at 4,300 rpm, with a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic. An S-CNG version is also sold.

Prices: LXi MT Rs 8,90,000, VXi MT Rs 9,95,300, ZXi MT Rs 11,01,500, VXi AT Rs 11,30,300, ZXi+ MT Rs 11,79,100, ZXi AT Rs 12,36,500, ZXi+ AT Rs 13,14,100, with CNG variants at Rs 10,93,800 and Rs 12,00,000.

Mileage: 20.51 km/l manual, 20.30 km/l automatic, 26.11 km/kg on CNG.

Safety: Six airbags, front, side and curtain, standard on every variant, with ESP and hill hold and ISOFIX mounts.

Maruti Suzuki XL6, 75.8 kW

The same engine in a six-seat body with captain seats throughout.

Prices: Rs 11.62 lakh to Rs 14.68 lakh.

Mileage: 20.90 km/l manual, 20.27 km/l automatic, 26.23 km/kg on CNG.

Worth knowing: no sunroof and no head-up display on any variant. What it does offer over the Ertiga is captain seats and ventilated front seats on Alpha Plus.

How much power do you actually need?

Be honest about the load. If the third row is folded flat most of the time and the MPV is really a tall five-seater, 75.8 kW is plenty and the Ertiga will cost you Rs 16 lakh less than the Invicto.

If you genuinely travel with seven people and luggage, and especially if that includes hills, the 139 kW cars are a different vehicle. They also happen to be more efficient than the smaller-engined pair, which is the counterintuitive part: 22.16 km/l against 20.51 to 20.90, because a strong hybrid runs on its motor exactly where a petrol engine is least efficient.

On the test drive, load the car with the people who will actually be in it, then try a flyover and a highway merge in the drive mode you would use daily. That tells you more than any spec sheet.

Frequently asked questions

Which is the most powerful hybrid MPV in India?

The Lexus LM 350h, with 182 kW, or 247 PS, of total system output and E-Four electric all-wheel drive, from Rs 2.27 crore. In the mainstream segment the Maruti Suzuki Invicto and Toyota Innova Hycross tie at 139 kW, and the Invicto is the cheaper route to that figure. See our list of 7-seater hybrid MUVs under 30 lakh.

Which is the most powerful hybrid MPV under Rs 20 lakh?

The XL6 and the Ertiga, equally. Both make 75.8 kW, or 103.06 PS, and 139 Nm from the same K15C engine. Our guide to hybrid MPVs under 20 lakh covers both.

Does the XL6 have more torque than the Ertiga?

No. Both brochures print 139 Nm at 4,300 rpm from the same engine. The XL6's advantages are its captain seats and a slightly better manual mileage figure, not torque.

Does a strong hybrid MPV have more power than a mild hybrid one?

Here, substantially. The strong hybrid Invicto makes 139 kW combined against 75.8 kW for the smart hybrid XL6 and Ertiga, and its motor can also drive the car alone at low speed, as our explainer on hybrid MPVs with an EV-only mode describes. For the simpler setup, see the best mild hybrid MPVs.

Does more power mean worse mileage in a hybrid MPV?

No. The 139 kW Invicto claims 22.16 km/l against 20.90 km/l for the 75.8 kW XL6, because the strong hybrid runs electrically at low speed. See the most fuel-efficient hybrid MPVs in India for the full comparison.

Which affordable hybrid MPV gives the most seats for the money?

The Ertiga, at Rs 8,90,000 for the LXi MT, with seven seats, 75.8 kW and six airbags as standard on every variant.
